Some FAQ’s about my height. These are the questions I get all the time, so I thought I’d share here 1. “Why did you get to 7'2" / 2.18m?"
When I was younger, doctors wondered the same. I have been through every test possible and there was nothing out of the ordinary (such as Marfan Syndrome or Acromegaly). I stopped growing at a normal age, had proportionate bone structures, etc. The doctor diagnosed me with: "natural giant"
But there are other factors of course. First, where it all starts: being Dutch! We’re the tallest people on average in the world. In short, research shows that is because of natural selection, dairy & meat diet, and genetics (I helped a little bit
). My parents are also tall: my father is 2.00m / 6'6" and my mother is 1.78m / 5'9". My brother is also 2.00m.2. “What did your growth pattern look like, and when did you stop growing?"
I was born with a height of 59cm, was 2.00meter when I was 14 years old, 2.10 when I turned 17, and at the age of 19 I stopped at 2.18meter
. There were times when I was growing 2-3 centimeters per month, which resulted in me not fitting in any of my clothes anymore and a lot of growth pains. 3. “What can I do to increase my height?''
Most boys will stop growing taller by the age of 16 and will usually have developed fully by 18. All individuals have a maximum potential height, it is determined in your genes and you can't change it. Some things can be done to ensure a person reaches their full potential height, but a person can't grow beyond this by using supplements or eating certain foods. These things are all about a healthy lifestyle: getting the nutrition you need (protein, vitamin D, calcium, zinc, etc.), the less chemicals the better (like smoking and drinking alcohol), having a healthy sleeping schedule, having an active life, etc. #thedutchgiant
